About Film:

Shock Wave 2 is a 2020 Hong Kong-Chinese action film written and directed by Herman Yau, produced by and starring Andy Lau. The film is a standalone sequel in-title-only to the 2017 film, Shock Wave, featuring a new storyline and characters. In the film, Lau plays a former bomb disposal officer who falls into a coma in an explosion and becomes a top suspect of a terrorist attack. After being apprehended, he escapes from custody as a fugitive to prove his innocence. The film was first announced on 15 March 2018. Production for Shock Wave 2 began in February 2019 and wrapped up on 8 May 2019. The film was originally set for theatrical release in July 2020, but was later pushed back to 24 December 2020. Poon Sing-fung (Andy Lau) and Tung Cheuk-man (Sean Lau) are two of the best Hong Kong Police Explosive Ordinance disposal officers. They also work with Lun Ting-Pong (Ron Ng) and Chan King-To (Kenny Wong) Their missions involve dealing with any situation that involves explosives. Poon is also dating Pong Ling (Ni Ni) who is also a Hong Kong police officer. During one mission involving a couple taken hostage by a bombmaker, Poon and Tung, manage to carefully navigate a heavily bomb booby trapped apartment to rescue the couple. However when Poon goes to rescue the couple’s cat trapped in a microwave, the cat’s removal accidently sets off a hidden spring trapped bomb in the apartment which explodes, severely wounding both Poon and Tung. Poon loses a leg and suffers blast burns on his hand while Tung only receives a burned hand. As a result of his handicap, Poon is recommended to a desk job by his superiors.
