About Film:
Arcane is a currently airing animated streaming television “event series” set in the League of Legends universe. The series was announced at the League of Legends 10th anniversary celebrations. It was developed and produced by Riot Games, with animation services by Fortiche Production, a French studio based in Paris. Originally set for a 2020 release, the show was rescheduled for a release in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was scheduled for a simultaneous November 6, 2021 release on Netflix and China’s Tencent Video website, with the series broken into three episode “acts” being released over three weeks. Set in the past, it retells the origin stories of several characters from Piltover and Zaun. Like the game which it is based on, Arcane is aimed at a “16+” audience and will deal with some more adult subject matter. In September 2021, it was announced that Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Jason Spisak, Toks Olagundoye, JB Blanc and Harry Lloyd had joined the voice cast. The delicate balance between the rich city of Piltover and the seedy underbelly of Zaun. Tensions between these city-states boil over with the creation of hextech a way for any person to control magical energy in Piltover, and in Zaun, a new drug called shimmer transforms humans into monsters. The rivalry between the cities splits families and friends as Arcane brings life to the relationships that shape some of League of Legends’ famous champions including Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Jayce and Viktor.
